Chapter Six:
Winter X Games part II : The Fall
We all arrived at Toronto by nightfall.
I stretched out and yawn.
It was past midnight and we all are worn out.
Alan made me go and get the keys to our room. I groaned and walked up to the counter.
' Reservation under James' I said sleepily.
Unable to open my eyes that longer, the lady gave me the keys.
I walked back to the parking lot and threw the keys to Alan and Nick.
The guy with the trolley came and loaded all our bags.
I was holding hands with Nick to keep my hands warm.
We all went to elevator, sleepy and tired.
When we reached our floor. Alan unlock our suite.
I went into the first room with Nick, hand in hand.
I took off all the layers of jackets and sweats and jump on the bed. Instantly fell asleep.
I felt Nick lay beside me as well.
~The next morning~
I got up and saw Nick still asleep. I looked up at the clock and it was only 6 am.I got up and went to the bathroom. I took a long hot bath and brush my teeth.I wrapped the bath robe around me and got out.
Nick was rubbing his eyes and reading a text from his blackberry.
'Morning' I said and walk over to the dressing table to hair dry my hair.
'Hey, what time is it?' he asked.
'You have a phone on your hand. Go and check it' I replied. He chuckles and got up.
'Nice. Being mean to me in the morning' He said and went to the bathroom.
'I wasn't being mean! I was just making sure that you won't be lazy to check the time next time!' I shouted. I heard him laugh.
'I would definitely make sure I don't look at the clock and annoy you' He said as he got out.
'Then I'll annoy you back!' I said and brush my hair.
'Uhh... does that include in hurting me?' Nick asked and opens the mini fridge and withdraw diet coke.
'Yeah and aren't you diabetic?!?'I asked when I saw diet coke.
'So? I'm allowed to drink diet coke' He replied.
'It's 7 in the morning! Put that away or I'll call your mum!' I threaten. He glared at me.
Nick put down the can on the bedside table.
'You should take the role of mum one day'
'Duh! I'm a girl idiot!' I replied and took out Lays.
I sat beside him.
'Sorry, I thought you were a boy this whole time' He said. I glared at him and hit his arm.
'Hey! I play the guitar with these arms!' Nick said.
I rolled my eyes and continue eating the chips.
He stood up and fold his arms.
'Hey Alexis, Why are you eating junk food in the morning?' Nick asked.
I looked at the chip that I was holding and grinned.
'Oh, Nicky! Is it wrong to eat chips at 7.30?' I asked.
He is trying to make a point. Oh, he's good!
'Yeah, James, It is' He said
'What are you going to do about it?' I asked and eat some more.
He smirked and took out his Blackberry and dial a number.
'Hey Alan, can you come to Alex's bedroom for a sec?'
'Ok'
Nick hang up and continue drinking the diet coke.
I rolled my eyes and took my phone when Alan, Kevin, Joe and AJ came in.
All holding something on their hands.
'Are you guys going hunting or is that for me?' I asked.
They all lowered what they were holding and looked around awkwardly.
'Anyways Nick, what is the SOS?' Alan asked.
'SOS? Are you trying to pun their song or something?' I asked. Kevin hit Alan's chest with the pillow that he was holding.
'Sorry. Uhh... Nick?'
'Oh, Alex eating junk' Nick replied. Alan came over and took the chips from me.
'He get to drink diet coke!' I fought.
Kevin came and took the can from him.
Nick glared at me and I stick out my tongue at him.
'If this is the kind of SOS, you guys are in big trouble next time!' Alan said and left with Kevin.
The both of us raised our brows at Joe and AJ.
'Wow, Al's grouchy today' AJ said and took Snickers from the mini fridge.
'ALAN! AJ is eating junk too!' I shouted and Alan ran in and confiscate the candy bar.
'But...'
'No! When you guys are here Kevin and I will be in charge! That means no junk till 10.45 and no boys on your room after 11 except AJ and I only' Alan said and walk off.
'What..?'
'That's FINAL!' Alan shouted.
'Is he for real?' I asked and the boys just shrugged.
We heard the suite's door shut.
'He is' Joe said.
*Mountain Top*
After Alan's outburst that morning, none of us dared to even
make the smallest mistake.
That points out to me since he's my coach and I might annoy the living hell out of him.
We all at the top of the mountain where the game will take place. There was a couple of other athletes with us.
Alan was rubbing his hands due to the cold and dropped his skates to the ground.'Be extra careful. This mountain is very tricky. Anything can happen' Alan warned.I pat his shoulders.
'Me? Are you out of your mind?' I said and start skating.
I saw Nick joined me to make sure that I won't hit anything.
Then I saw Joe on the other side with Kevin.
Seriously is Alan planning all of this?
After an hour on the mountain, all of head back to the resort for lunch.
I was exhausted cause the pressure from Alan was distracting me and I had to make sure that I didn't make any mistakes.
What did I do to make him moody?
We all head down to the lodging's restaurant and ordered our food.
'Umm.. we haven't covered the whole mountain yet so after lunch, we will head back up' Alan said looking at his notebook.
My jaw dropped.
'Can't we call it a day? I'm exhausted' I asked.
He raised his eyebrows at me.
'Can I ask you something, Alex?' He asked and closed his book.
'What?'
'This is the X Games, a very big event for you and it's a big event for AJ and I too.
How would you feel if some newbie like you beat your own game? Heck what happens when you rest even a day when the other newbie is practicing VERY hard while you stay in for the freaking excuse that YOU'RE EXHAUSTED! Tell me... I want to know.... How would you feel?' Alan asked.
I glared at him.
'Guess what.... on the competition day, I don't want to feel exhausted and finds out that I lost because I was too TIRED. You would like that don't you? Me losing for the wrong reasons. NEXT time BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR WORDS! Excuse me' I replied angrily and left. I heard someone's chair and footsteps coming over to me.
'Alex' Nick's voice rang.
'He's a FREAKING IDIOT!!' I said angrily. Nick took my hand and dragged me away.
'How does snow cone sounds? I don't think they sell ice-cream here' Nick asked.
I chuckled cause he knew what I like to eat.
'Aren't you diabetic?' I asked back.
'Hey, I haven't had that much sugar today so no harm done' He replied and pull me closer.
We walked around the small village and finally found a stall that sells snow cones.
Nick paid for my snow cone since I left my purse with AJ.
We walked around for awhile looking through shops and joke around.
I noticed there was a couple of people taking photos of Nick and I but I push that out of my mind.
'Hey Alex, 20 questions. What am I thinking?' Nick asked.
I looked up at him.
'Hmm... a boy?'
'Uhh... No'
'A girl?'
'Yes;
'Is it Selena?'
'No'
'A celebrity?'
'Yes'
'Singer?'
'No'
'Actress?'
'No'
'Dancer?'
'No'
'an athlete'
'Yes'
'Hmm... who is it?'
'I can't tell you!'
'A girl, an athlete..........me?'
'Yes'
'Why me?' I asked. We were walking down the narrow street to the park.
'Is it wrong?' He asked me back.
'No, but I don't know I'm curious' I replied. I took a big bite of snow cone.
Nick laughed.
'Seriously, there's nothing to be curious about' Nick reassured me.
'You amaze me... anyways I have a freaking cool plan' I said. He looked at me weirdly.
'What plan?' He asked.
'Okay, when we got back, Alan will be fuming so let's just say we had an accident'
'What kind of accident?'
'Fall off the hill or something?'
'Are you sure? It doesn't sound smooth-proof to me'
'Oh, come on....it won't hurt'
'You serious? I mean...like..........AHHHH!!!!!'
